The Dane County Sheriff's Office sponsors an annual Hunter Sight-In Program to prepare hunters for the deer hunting season, allowing the sighting and adjusting of firearms in a safe environment with experienced instructors. Additionally, in partnership with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, it has offered public weekend target shooting at the Training Center, featuring a 100 yard long gun range and a 30 yard handgun range. However, public use of the shooting range is currently temporarily closed, except for the Hunter Sight-In.
Only firearms legal for hunting deer in Wisconsin are permitted; public use of the shooting range is temporarily closed except for Hunter Sight-In.
